Improvements to the Union’s Life & Health Benefits Plan



The Trustees of the IUOE Local 793 Members Life and Health Trust are pleased to advise of the following improvements to the Active and Retiree Life & Health Benefits Plan, effective July 1, 2024:


Psychologist services – The services of qualifying students will now be covered by the Plan for treatment performed under the direct supervision of a registered/licensed practitioner. The receipt must include details of the qualifying student, including the name and registration number of the supervising practitioner.


Speech Therapy Services – The services of Communication Disorders Assistants (CDAs) will now be covered by the Plan for treatment performed under the direct supervision of a registered/licensed practitioner. The receipt must include details of the qualifying student, including the name and registration number of the supervising practitioner.


Retiree Benefit Plan eligibility – The requirement of being an initiated member in good standing for seven years to participate in the retiree benefit plan has been reduced to five years.

In order to qualify for benefits under the Retiree Benefits Plan, a Pensioner must meet ALL of the following criteria on his or her retirement date:


a. Be a Member in Good Standing, as defined in the Union’s Constitution and by-laws, and remain a member in Good Standing; and


b. Have been an Initiated Member of IUOE Local 793 for five or more consecutive years, as of July 1, 2024; and


c. Have been covered by the IUOE Local 793 Life and Health Benefit Plan for 12 of the last 24 months immediately prior to retirement and be covered for benefits on the date of retirement; and


d. If you meet the eligibility criteria to participate in the Retiree Benefit Plan you will be given a one-time opportunity to join the plan. If you decide to decline the Retiree Benefit coverage offer you cannot come back at a later date and request to join the plan.

The latest edition of the Active and Retiree Life & Health Benefits Plan booklets are now available on OEBAC Mobile and OEBAC Online. These booklets are convenient reference documents that outline the services and products eligible for reimbursement under the terms of the IUOE Local 793 Life & Health Benefits Plan. To access the Active and Retiree Life & Health Benefits Plan booklets:


· OEBAC Online: Log in to your member profile, select OEBAC Online, and find the benefits booklets under Resources. You will be directed to a PDF link of the booklet.


· OEBAC Mobile: Log into the OEBAC Mobile App, select Resources, and then the Life and Health Booklet. A PDF document will be loaded to your phone’s web browser
